Pronunciation is the most fundamental problem among the three elements of violin. Without good pronunciation, no matter how good the pitch or rhythm is, it can only be a pile of emotionless and lifeless notes. So, practicing pronunciation is a prerequisite for learning violin. The pronunciation of the violin relies on the resonance generated by the friction between the bow and the strings. It is difficult to produce beautiful and moving sounds solely through theoretical knowledge and mechanical practice. It can only be gradually achieved through correct pronunciation training and continuous performance.

Pronunciation training is a scientific method that involves the posture of holding the piano, relaxation of muscles and joints, coordination and cooperation of left and right hand skills, accumulation of musical quality, and identification of auditory perception, among others. This is specifically practiced and discussed in many violin textbooks and theoretical works. After carefully studying these pronunciation exercises and understanding the theories related to pronunciation, we can combine our own reality to practice pronunciation skillfully.

1、 Empty string double tone practice. Practice double tone empty strings on strings D, A, G, D, and A, E respectively.
Place the bow on strings D and A, find the balance point, and let the natural weight of the bow fall completely on the double strings. Relax the right elbow to the shoulder, feeling the natural weight of the bow and the relaxation of the hand. When pronouncing, the bow hair is tightly attached to the double strings, allowing them to produce a full, harmonious, bright, and resonant sound. Then use the full bow to slowly move the bow, paying attention to adjusting the natural weight of the bow with the tail finger, maintaining a balanced pronunciation from the bow root to the bow tip, eliminating distractions, and listening attentively to the pronunciation. Pronunciation practice should have a sense of music, with four beats as a bow, and the speed depends on one's ability to control the bow. You will find that the pronunciation on the A and E strings is the most difficult to master, especially when the bow is moved up to the lower half, it is easy to experience double tone imbalance and instability. Therefore, it is necessary to adjust the posture of holding the piano, adjust the feel of the lucky bow, adjust the breath, and practice patiently and repeatedly to feel the harmonious resonance of the fifth interval with heart.

2、 Practice of changing strings with empty strings and starting over strings. Practice double tone string switching and crossing strings using a split bow and a continuous bow, while using the bow root and bow tip to raise the bow. Require the sound to be full and bright, balanced between changing and crossing strings, without touching or dropping the string, and with good resonance.

3、 Practice the simple pronunciation of empty strings in fixed positions. For example, perform bow splitting and connecting exercises for la, si, la, do, la, re, la, and mi on the first string of string A. The requirement is to combine pronunciation practice with stable rhythm, elastic fingers, and clear, bright, and smooth pronunciation of each empty string sound and the four fingers of the left hand. According to one's actual level, practice can be done on various strings and positions. This is very beneficial for pitch accuracy, timbre, tactile sensation, and pronunciation of various finger positions.
