Maintenance and protection methods for violin/GMY Vision

Proper maintenance and upkeep of violins can extend their lifespan. Generally, violins are not broken, but most damage to them is caused by improper maintenance and upkeep. The violin is a delicate instrument that should not be placed next to a stove or heater, in damp places, or in direct sunlight as it can damage the instrument. When not in use for a long time, the strings should be loosened. Even if used every day, the strings should be loosened regularly over time to give the instrument a "rest". Long term tightening of the strings can make the instrument "tired" and the sound dull and dull.

The violin needs to be kept clean in order to maintain a good sound. After each use of the instrument, use a soft cloth to wipe off the pine powder and dust on the strings of the instrument. If dirt accumulates on the piano board, you can use a cotton ball dipped in some soapy water to gently wipe it, and then use a dry soft cloth to wipe it clean. Another way is to wrap a piece of walnut meat in a cloth to wipe away dirt, which is also effective. But never use alcohol or other chemical reagents to wipe the piano, as it will wipe off the paint.

If there is a lot of dust and rosin foam in the belly of the qin, you can pour a handful of washed and fried rice into the belly of the qin through the f-hole, then shake the qin body back and forth, left and right, up and down repeatedly, and then pour out the rice grains covered with dust and rosin foam from the sound hole. After practicing the piano, you should put it in the piano box and cover it tightly. When standing, do not place it upside down, the piano head should be facing upwards. When placed flat, do not place it upside down. The lid of the piano should be facing upwards. The piano case cannot be compressed, and the string shaft is affected by climate change, making it easy for the strings to run when dry. You can apply an appropriate amount of rosin powder or chalk dust on the shaft to stabilize it. Cannot twist when wet. You can apply pencil lead powder or a little toothpaste to make it smooth.

Attention should be paid to maintenance and upkeep:

① After each performance, wipe the piano clean with a dry soft cloth, loosen the bow hair, and place the piano in the lid of the case.

② The violin should not be placed near the stove, heater, or in damp places. Those who live in bungalows in summer should pay more attention to moisture prevention.

③ The bow hair is broken and cannot be pulled off. Use scissors to cut it off to prevent the bow hair from falling off as a whole.

④ Do not touch the bow hair with your hands. Do not twist the bow too tightly during each practice. Before each practice, evenly wipe the bow hair with rosin. About 8-10 times is sufficient.
