Reflection on Violin Teaching/GMY Vision
1. Weak physical coordination and insufficient mental capacity
Relaxation practice is particularly important in violin learning, but it has become an insurmountable problem for adults. The problems of stiff fingers and decreased coordination ability in adults are particularly prominent.
When requiring the right hand to relax and form a semi enclosed hand shape, it is often difficult for adults to meet the requirements for the first and second joints of the right hand. A middle-aged woman in her sixties, when learning to hold a four finger position, in order to press accurately, her little finger pulled her entire left arm clockwise and tilted her body forward. Incorrect movements lead to a series of problems such as the operation of the bow. When moving students' fingers to solve pitch problems, there are often issues such as finger immobility.
2. Strong learning initiative and diligent in practice
Due to the fact that most students start learning violin subjectively based on their love for music, the effectiveness in classroom efficiency and post class practice will be better. Although some students may be delayed in practicing the piano due to objective factors such as family and work, most students are able to complete each after-school task. A female student in her fifties who is nearing retirement also hopes to realize her dream of playing the piano. Although the speed of absorbing knowledge in the classroom is the slowest, every class is recorded and watched repeatedly after class. The quality of homework in the next class will reach the best level in the whole class. Auntie said, 'I have a slow reaction time during class, so I won't disturb you. After class, I will go back and study carefully. If there are any problems, I will consult the teacher.' Such a diligent attitude is truly worth learning from.
3. Slow down the progress and allow for differences
Due to the collective teaching, there will inevitably be differences in learning. To allow for differences, promptly correct student issues, and provide individual tutoring.
In teaching practice, it has been found that adults have a slightly weaker ability to learn new things. When studying "Suzuki", they can only complete the learning of at most one new piece of music after reviewing old pieces in each class. This is significantly less than the amount of homework for children. The actual teaching progress should also be adjusted in a timely manner based on students' acceptance ability, piano practice time, learning interests, and pay attention to mastering the situation. Pay attention to the quality of learning.
