Violin type/GMY Vision

The type of violin not only affects the appearance of the violin, but also has a direct impact on the quality of the sound. There are many styles of violin types, and there are several common types:

Machinist type: The most obvious feature is that the head of the instrument has four layers of rotation, and the decorative edge on the instrument panel is double layered. Sometimes, the decorative edge on the back panel is embedded with various patterns, and the color is often light yellow or dark brown.

This type of violin has a large size, a long body, a wide board, and lower side panels. The panel is slightly thicker than the back panel, and the curvature of the surface of the face and back panel is small and flat. The curvature of the sub panel starts from the near edge, which expands the vibration area and enhances the volume. Therefore, when performing Qin, its pronunciation is deep and bright, with good long-distance transmission effect and unique sound quality. Its disadvantages are that the vocal cords are noisy, not clean enough, the sound holes are straight and long, the head is small, and it does not match the large body of the instrument, so the appearance is not very beautiful.

Amati type: This type of violin has a narrow middle body, a thick middle panel, and long horns. The curvature of the panel is high in the middle and suddenly slopes downwards towards the edge of the panel. The four sides are thin, and there is a deep groove near the decorative edge, which makes the edges of the panel easy to vibrate. The head of this violin has a large twist, and the sound holes are short. The sound quality is sweeter than that of Machini, especially the G and D strings, which have a more beautiful tone. Its disadvantage is that the vibration area is small, the pronunciation is not loud enough, the transmission effect is poor, and it is only suitable for use in small concert halls.

Antonio Stradivari type: The standard type is that the upper part of the case is relatively narrow, the lower part is relatively wide, and the middle part has a slightly deeper curvature, which not only matches the contour but also has beautiful lines. The piano board is wide and flat, with a very slight curvature. It is thick in the middle and gradually expands to become thinner in all directions. The thinnest part is near the side plate. Due to the moderate thickness of the panel, it is highly susceptible to vibration. The S-shaped zither has strong and powerful pronunciation, loud and clear sound, beautiful timbre, and excellent long-distance transmission effect. Its sound is more powerful than that of the Machinist and more beautiful and melodious than that of the Amadeus. People often use phrases such as round, subtle, rich, and pure to describe its timbre.

Jesus Guarneri type: The characteristics of this type of qin are that the curvature of the plate is not large, it is relatively flat, the thickness difference between the middle and the surrounding areas of the panel is small, the upper and middle parts of the case are wider than that of a traditional qin, the curvature in the middle is not deep, the corners are not as protruding, the lower part of the body is narrower, the holes are longer and the style is unique, and the head is larger and the style is majestic. Because Guarneri only values the pronunciation effect of the violin, the appearance of the violin is not as exquisite and beautiful as it is. But the vibration of the piano board is strong and powerful, and the pronunciation is profound and bright.

Jacob Steiner type: The sound quality of Jacob's violin comes from its special structure and technique. His violin is slightly shorter and narrower than the Italian violin, and the wood used is carefully selected. The backboards are all made of spliced boards, and the arches of the backboards and panels are narrow and high, which are particularly noticeable when viewed from the horizontal plane of the piano. The middle of the soundboard is extremely thick, but it quickly decreases to a very thin thickness towards the surroundings, using an extremely thin bass beam. The length of the sound hole on the panel is shorter than that of an Italian piano, with a curved middle and pointing outward towards the corners, which has a special function of increasing the sensitivity of the panel.
