Common problem handling of violin bow/GMY Vision

The violin bow is made of hard wood, and the bow hair is a natural ponytail. A good bow should have a straight stem, good elasticity, and give the performer a comfortable feeling. The bow is very particular about straightness, elasticity, weight, and balance. After reaching a certain level of proficiency, violin learners should have a better bow.

The choice of bow varies from person to person. A violinist often has high requirements for the bow, and they are very picky when choosing it. The quality of the bow directly affects the normal pronunciation of the violin and the performance of personal skills, as well as the stage effect of the performer. Therefore, the quality of the bow should be highly valued by people.

The wood used for making bows includes some hard woods such as Brazilian Sumu, Basi Wood, Sourwood, Kundian Wood, etc. Advanced bows are made from Brazilian Sumu. For mid-range and popular bows, hard woods such as basswood and sourwood are used. As the bow wood is a heterogeneous material, the cutting texture of the wood is not correct or cut half chordwise during production, which inevitably leads to deformation of the bow. When the bow bends, it needs to be baked under an alcohol lamp to straighten the bent part, which will not affect the continued use of the bow. If the bow is still in good condition, professional personnel should be found to repair it. If the bow is broken in the middle or upper half, the method of inserting a fork is generally used to reconnect a semi-finished bow head, bond the bow stem together to maintain the length of the bow stem, and then carve the bow head according to the original style.

If any bow head falls off and you still want to use the original bow head, use strong glue to first stick the damaged part of the original bow head together, then make a small groove on top of the bow head and insert small wooden pieces and strong glue to clamp it. After the glue dries, it can still be used after repair.

The replacement of bow hair. Generally, the bow hair of a qin bow needs to be replaced after six months of use. Some bows may have the ponytail knot of the bow head slip out of the bow head groove during use. In this case, the original ponytail can be reinstalled and a small wooden stopper can be tightened. Sometimes, the ponytail of the bow is too long and the screw cannot be tightened to the end. This phenomenon also requires reinstalling the ponytail. Reinstalling the bow hair requires some professional knowledge, or you can refer to the original assembly method of the bow and slowly follow the opposite procedure. First, tie the neatly arranged ponytail into a bundle of 180-220 bow hair. Install one end of the ponytail in the ponytail storage, and then comb it to the bow head to determine the length of the ponytail. Knot it back and remove the excess part Cutting off the position and flipping it over to install it on the bow head is relatively simple, but practical operation requires some experience.

As for other parts of the bow, if the ponytail compartment is damaged, a corresponding ponytail compartment can be replaced, and if the screws in the tailstock are damaged, they can be replaced again. If the screws are difficult to tighten, some lubricating oil can be dripped, which will have a certain effect.

Generally, when the bow is not in use, the screws should be loosened to extend the service life of the ponytail and maintain the elasticity of the bow stem. It is best to place the bow in the case to avoid accidents and unnecessary losses.
