Vitaly's' Chacong '/GMY Vision

Tomaso Antonio Vitali (1663-1745), from Italy, was a Baroque musician of the same period, including composers such as Antonio Vivaldi (1678-1741), George Frideric Handel (1685-1759), and Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750), who were born earlier. Vitali, born into a musical family, had his father Giovanni Battista Vitali (1632-1692) who was a very active composer and violinist in Bologna. Influenced by him since childhood, Vitali also developed his own style. He was talented and was hired as the principal of the Palace Orchestra at the age of 12. He later developed his music career in the Modena region and ended his life here.

We have limited knowledge about Vitaly's life and creations, only knowing that he has published some chamber music such as "Trio Sonatas" and "Violin Sonatas". However, his well-known and beloved work "Chacone for Violin and Continuous in G minor" may not have been created by him.

It is said that since the famous German violinist Ferdinand David (1810-1873) included Vitaly's "Chacon" in his book "Advanced Violin Techniques" in the 19th century, this piece quickly became famous. However, due to the significant differences in style and technique between "Chacon" and Vitaly's style, it is generally speculated that this piece may have been composed by Ferdinand David or other romantic composers.

And why is Ferdinand David so talented? He was the first performer of Felix Mendelssohn's (1809-1847) Violin Concerto in E Minor, which Mendelssohn later presented to him.
